4.5 Connect I/O Expander

Choose the manual that matches the version printed on your PiBot expander PCB. The V5 and V4/V4.1 electrical layouts are different.

PiBot V4.96 ProUse the supplied 4.x adapter · UART2 TX GPIO.27 / RX GPIO.25 · disable OLED
Check the expander PCB version before wiring. Do not apply V4/V4.1 input or RX/TX instructions to V5 hardware, and always power off before inserting RJ12 cables or moving jumpers.

PiBot I/O Expander V5

Use this manual for the current V5 board with eight optocoupler inputs, six buffered 5 V outputs, two PhotoMOS relays, two External-V MOSFET outputs and two RX/TX jumper groups.

LEGACY HARDWARE

PiBot I/O Expander V4 / V4.1

Use this preserved manual only when the expander PCB is marked V4 or V4.1. It retains the older mixed input circuits, four 5 V outputs, original firmware procedure and legacy wiring examples.

Choose the correct page

PCB says V5Use the green current-model card and follow its model-specific controller row.
PCB says V4 or V4.1Use the gray legacy card. Do not copy V5 SW_VCC or dual-jumper instructions.
Version cannot be readKeep power off and compare the board against the PinMap/product photos before connecting it.
